Gregor's Room
Gregor's Room
Statement
The dominant color of the story to my eyes is dark brown, a color full of sadness and squalor, even though dark brown is a warm color —— a color that can be comforting.
When a candle burns out, one discards its remains because it has lost its value forever.
Gregor is like a candle that burns his life to provide for his family until he dies.
Gregor's family does not appreciate his sacrifice. Gregor becomes a stain on their eyes when they realize that they cannot gain value from a beetle. No one wanted to spend more time looking after him, and his room became increasingly disorganized.
His last shelter was a battered cardboard box, yes, the cardboard box that had always held any bug.
