Research of Batik
Batik
Batik is an ancient folk craft of traditional Chinese textile printing and dyeing. It makes use of the drainage properties of wax and uses a painting knife to dip into the wax and draw a pattern on a white cloth. Before painting with wax, the women usually sketch the cloth with the tip of a needle. After repeated dipping and dyeing in an indigo vat, the cloth is rinsed in cold water and the beeswax is boiled off, resulting in batik of white flowers on a blue background. Because of its rich patterns, elegant hues, and unique style, batik is used to make clothing and various household items that are simple, generous, fresh, pleasing to the eye, and rich in ethnic characteristics.
